My name is Donna Thomas, owner, founder, and formulator of Barely There Mineral Wear, the best mineral makeup. I would like to
tell you a little about myself and why I started this mineral makeup company.
I am a full time Real Estate agent in Maryland, just south of Washington D.C. and have been in the business of sales for most of my life. I am 41 years old and for the past 7 years I have had periodic episodes of acne, including the start of rosacea. I tried everything, not only to cure my acne but to cover up my flaws and nothing worked. I ordered some mineral makeup from xyz company and it was the wrong color. 2 more orders later and about $150.00 spent I found my correct color. I really liked the look and feel of this particular foundation and mineral veil but after researching the ingredients, was not very pleased. I thought the whole purpose of mineral makeup was do do something good for your face not to poison it. I started researching other company’s ingredients and found that a lot of them used ingredients like Bismuth Oxychloride, Talc, Parabens and other ingredients that were not good for our skin. Most of these companies were the bigger commercialized companies that have their products manufactured in a lab that is also making cosmetics for numerous other companies just to slap their label on it. I also noticed that most companies did not offer trial or sample sizes and the colors on the computer screen were not always true to color which can be very aggravating and expensive. I also have to say that trying to navigate through some of the company’s web sites was sometimes not only difficult but nearly impossible (try looking for the ingredients in your mineral makeup on their website).
I decided that if they could do it then so could I, but I would use good essential
ingredients
and not use cheep fillers. I would offer convenient trail sizes and samples and offer my products at a lesser rate than most. I want to make my clients feel good about what they are purchasing and I never want anyone to feel that they have been taken advantage of. My makeup was formulated on real people and not manufactured in a lab. I will listen to you and also take your advise: can you do that with a big company? I wanted shopping to be simple and convenient for my customers and felt that they shouldn’t have to jump through hoops or pay loads of money just to try something new.
Well, here I am, over 1 year later. It has been a very busy year with endless research and a lot of trial and error: and I mean a lot. I have numerous colors to choose from but will be adding and possibly discontinuing some items as time passes. This is where your comments come into play. Please feel free to tell me about your likes or dislikes about any of my products. I appreciate your input. Also, please send me a tetimonial on any product you like and I will post it on my site. Oh, by the way, after using mineral makeup for about 8 months and trying my acne cure, and toner my face has really cleared up. See my before and after pic when I actually get brave enough to insert it.
We do not use ingredients whose sole purpose is to improve the look or texture of the product in the jar; that is NOT OUR GOAL. So if our lables look homemade, or our powders not so silky as Brand X, that's okay with us.
My manufacturing is done without any animal testing at all. The only animal product used is beeswax, in our potted lip gloss (coming soon).
This company is owned by a woman; me, and I would like to eventually help employ other women interested into breaking into this field. Women who work for themselves can provide greater income for their families and reach greater fulfillment at the end of the day. I hope in the future that I can help someone realize their goals and maybe make the road that I once traveled a little less turbulent.
